Art Attack

Art isn’t just for the walls – it’s for your wardrobes, too!

After attending the fabulous Serpentine Gallery Summer Party last night, I was left feeling a little sartorially inspired.

Thanks to brands such as Celine and Stella McCartney, art in all in it’s forms has been at the forefront of this season’s fashion trends and if Prada’s AW14 architectural footwear are anything to go by then the trend is set to continue…so why not invest now?

1) Making a mark

YMC Dress

Brushstrokes are tipped as summer’s hottest trend after Celine’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Opt for the monochromatic look to keep things sophisticated and choose sumptuous fabrics for a look that’s less Van Gogh and more high-style.

2) Fine Lines

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney has a great array of overlapped sketched styles on slouchy seperates- they’d look killer with a leather pencil skirt and stilettos.

3) Masterpiece Magic

Emma Cook

Emma Cooks painterly screen prints work perfectly with denim jeans and ankle boots, or dressed up for night with some statement earrings.

4) Photo Perfect

Mary Kataranzou

If oils and watercolours aren’t to your taste, don’t worry as fine photographic prints are just as hot right now. Mary Kataranzou is a firm believer in the impact of digital prints, experimenting with landscapes in punchy colourways. This is rather a bold look so keep accessories neutral – but if you’re feeling brave, team with a matching nail varnish or lipstick.

5) Graphic Trainers

The art inspired look doesn’t just stop at apparel; it also applies to footwear. A graphic pair of trainers would look great with white jeans or denim cut offs for summer and add a point of conversation to a simple outfit. Plus, having ditched the heels, your feet will thank you later!
