Six Best Investments for AW14

Now that winter is upon us, I’m thinking about which pieces I want to invest in for the colder months. Luckily, the high street never sleeps when it comes to interpreting runway trends and with just six pieces you can emulate some of the most desirable collections for a fraction of the price.

The first piece I wanted needed to find was a Burberry-esque scarf. This peacock patterned scarf from Topshop was a clear winner, picking up on the pastel hues of the Burberry AW14 collection. Next up? Knee high boots, and this pair from Faith has real style mileage – the croc textile looks super luxurious and they’re in the sale at ASOS, so make sure you get in quick!

Kitsch themes were everywhere for winter – from Moschino’s Barbie to Anya Hindmarch’s Kelloggs bags. Fortunately, River Island has a great alternative in the form of a sweater, THE power piece for a new season wardrobe. I would wear it oversized and teemed with a sheer skirt – Topshop Unique has a great silk version.

Still feeling the chill? Cape coats are everywhere and the colour of the season is camel, so I recommend combining the two with this Mango number. Lastly, I’m obsessing over this floral clutch from ASOSbecause it’s never too early to dream of spring…

Which trends are you tapping into for winter? Let me know in the comments!
