The Birthday Dress

So as I sit here writing today’s post in the courtyard of The Ivy’s new Chelsea outpost – The Ivy Chelsea Garden –  I have precisely four days before my birthday and I’m hurriedly trying to plan a party – and not just any party but one to remember!

It was over drinks with friends on Sunday that I finally relented to their pleas for reason and agreed to organise an event. However, sitting in the dappled light of the leafy patio and sipping on a sobering black Americano,  I’m beginning to think I might have bitten off more than I can chew.

But never one to shy away from a challenge, I’ve decided to tackle the task head on.

First order of business? Finding the dress – but of course!

I’m in love with this dreamy summer look. Designed by Natalia Kaut, this matching crochet top and skirt are lovingly finished with scalloped edges and delicate pompoms. What’s not to love?

But the birthday girl shouldn’t have to confine herself to pretty dresses and if you’re looking for an occasion to wear something outside of your ordinary wardrobe, your birthday is it. This directional, pant look packs a punch with a strong silhouette and attention to detail.

However, if you really want to ensure no one steals your thunder, a thigh-skimming leather dress fashioned with all-over cutouts like this one, is certainly one way to do it! 😉

Decisions, decisions…which one to wear? I suppose at least now I have more than one excuse to celebrate! 😉
