Whether they were samples from shoots, or the result of misguided shopping trips, I’m ashamed to say there are dresses in my wardrobe that have never seen the light of day.

Too short, too tight or too dressy, there are plenty of reasons for a dress to go unworn. However, in many cases, that difficult dress can be reworked and reborn – N.B. put down the prom dress, that can stay where it is.

Here’s how I’m dressing down my midi dress from Milly:

For a daytime appropriate look, I dropped the inches on my heels and went with my favourite pair of low-er heeled sandals, which win big on both comfort and style.* I threw on a super casual denim jacket and chose my aquatic-inspired clutch. To finish, I kept the jewellery light and added a pair of metallic shades.

*Flats may have finally arrived at Vogue, but I’m not ready to lose my extra inches just yet.
