Emma Goes to Paris: Vivienne Westwood

Held at  l’Oratoire du Louvre – a magnificent church, built in 1811 – the Vivienne Westwood show was certainly something to witness! Inspired by a trip to the costume archives at the V&A, as well as a recent trip to Peru, tribal colours painted the faces of the models and Westwood’s typically eclectic designs swept the catwalk. There were references to everything from the Peruvian tribe with whom Westwood and her husband Andreas met while travelling last year, to Charles Frederick Worth (Father of Haute Couture) with puffed sleeves, high necks and swathes of tulle. The brand’s British heritage and Westwood’s back catalogue did not go unreferenced either, with a number of pieces in tartan along with a corseted dress, or two!

It was a really strong collection and dare I say it, I actually quite liked a few of the metallic-look skirts for myself – I will definitely take another look in the autumn.

Here I am after the show –
