Waking up on the last day of New York Fashion Week I was struck by how inspired I felt after spending the six days previous surrounded by some of the most talented, creative and hardworking individuals in the industry. Yes, I was exhausted – from fittings to shows, to late night parties, I’d done it all – yet there was one collection left to see and I knew I couldn’t miss it: Calvin Klein.
Before the show, I was invited backstage to view the collection and meet the incredibly talented designer behind womenswear at the brand, Francisco Costa (Click to view photo!) Also in the dressing room, I spotted makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath, overseeing the finishing touches to the models, as well as Anna Wintour, who passed by for a sneak preview.
The show was beautiful and refined, with a long and narrow silhouette, and form fitting knitwear at the fore. Sharp cuts, scraped-back hair, and waifish models added to the drama, while inky shades of red and blue gave the collection a solemn air. My highlight? The sheer-skirt, knitted dresses and everything in that red leather!
Now that New York Fashion Week is over, I’m homeward-bound for the LFW (and Milan & Paris after that!)
