There’s nothing quite like summer in New York: the sun, the heat and the clear blue skies. Add fashion week into the mix and you get something quite extraordinary. Since I touched down in the big apple on Thursday night my schedule has been so jam packed I’ve barely had time to sit down! Here’s my photo diary of all my fashion week antics. Want more? Check out my Instagram and Twitter for up-to-the-minute news, views and photos!
9am: Glam Squad
911: Hair emergency! The Glam Squad is on-call for hair and makeup emergencies and they sure deliver, supplying me with a smokey eye and soft bouncy curls – the perfect start to a busy day.
1.30pm: Otswald Heglason Show
Can you name the two mega bloggers I’m sat next to on the front row at Otswald Heglason? It’s of course Leandra Medine of Man Repeller and Kristina Bazan of Kayture! As for the collection itself: I’m lusting after the bold wallpaper inspired prints which would look perfect with a leather pencil skirt and sandals, (spring can’t come round quick enough!)
7pm: Jonathan Simkhai Presentation
One designer I could never miss on the New York Fashion Week schedule is my friend Jonathan Simkhai. Already wearing one of his sporty, matching separates to the presentation, I fell head over heels for his latest designs. The collection, inspired by an amusing anecdote of a confident klutz and a shattered glass, featured geometrics shapes, jagged, asymmetrical panels, and sheer cutaways that were strong, confident and feminine. I can’t wait to start shopping!
8pm: Altuzarra show
Altuzarra was one of the shows I was most looking forward to seeing whilst in New York, but I never expected to meet the incredible Anna Wintour. The clothes oozed sophisticated sex appeal and I left the show lusting after this gingham pencil skirt with a thigh high slit!
9pm: Night Time Photoshoot
Finally, to round off my busy day, I was introduced to this charming New York City pooch called Brian – check out how well my clutch and his leash match! A few photos later and a quick outfit change, I headed to the Jonathan Simkhai after party at No 8, which was the perfect way to let off steam before another hectic day of shows, clothes and blogging!
Check back tomorrow for my Diary – Day III!
