Quick Fix Hair Tips: Beachy Waves

They may say that eyes are the windows to the soul, but hair is by far the first thing we see when we meet someone new, making it pivotal to keep your tresses in tip-top shape. However, if you’re anything like me, you don’t have time for lengthy blowouts or salon treatments; between castings, shoots and blogging – not to mention my travel schedule – I barely have time to go out, let alone take extra care of my hair. Fortunately, with a little practice and the right products, I’ve managed to shorten my hair routine to just a few minutes and now you can too!

Today I’ll be giving my top tips on how to create beachy waves in an instant.

Beachy Waves Hair Products

SHOP HERE From left to right: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Shampoo, Shu Uemura Moisture Velvet Nourishing Conditioner, One ‘n’ Only Argan Hair Comb, Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray, Invisibobble, Deva Curl Flexible-Hold Hair Spray, Rodin’s Luxury Hair Oil.

Step one: Deep Cleanse

I like to start my hair routine with an ultra nourishing shampoo and conditioner: I love the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily shampoo as the formula¬†penetrates deep into hair shaft to tighten hair, helping to reduce hair drying time – a major bonus! I like to follow this up with Shu Uemura’s Moisture Velvet conditioner; it’s enriched with¬†Camellia Oil to leave you with super soft, manageable locks.

Step two: Prepare Hair

After washing and towel drying, comb through hair with an argan oil comb to smooth without causing breakage (using a brush is a major no-no) and spritz with my all-time favourite styling product, Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray which creates authentic beach waves without salty stiffness. This product also comes in travel size which is essential for holiday packing. Comb through once more and twist into a high bun. I like to use the Invisibobble hair band which prevents kinks and protects hair from breakage. I’ve got naturally straight hair but if you’ve got thick or curly hair, blast with a hairdryer on medium heat for five minutes before putting in a bun to speed up drying time. You can even leave hair in a bun on your commute or in the car on the way to your destination to save even more time!

Step three: Finish and Go!

Once dry, shake out hair and comb through with fingers. Spritz with a little hairspray- the Deva Curl Flexible-Hold Hair Spray is fantastic and infused with wheat protein for all day conditioning. If you’ve got naturally frizzy hair, rub through a little of Rodin’s Luxury Hair Oil on the mid to ends of your hair to add a touch of iridescent shine. If I have time, or if I have an event, I’ll volumise my curls with some wide barrel heating tongs, curling random strands to add to the beachy style.
