Style Focus: Diana Vickers

"Godzilla" - European Premiere - Inside Arrivals

British singer-songwriter-turned-actress, Diana Vickers has done a lot in the few years since she first stepped barefoot! into our consciousness as the 16 year old X-Factor hopeful and original boho-girl. From topping the charts with her single, Once and taking to the stage on London’s West End, Diana’s also garnered a reputation for her fashion-forward, feminine style. This week I caught up with the now front-row regular to discuss designing her dream wardrobe, her handbag essentials and more!

Hi Diana! It’s been six years since you first appeared on our screens – how has your style changed over the years?

I think it’s changed a lot. I’ve grown up since then and I’ve found my own sense of style. I was so young when I first started out and people were giving me all these clothes – it was great but I had no idea how to coordinate them and would throw everything on at once. I like to think it’s become a lot more womanly.

Describe your style in three words:

Minimalistic, monochrome madness, yet sometimes 90s.

Who’s style do you admire most?

Cher from Clueless is a personal style fave. I love Parisian chic, ladies from Paris just look beautiful. Obviously (Kate) Moss never does wrong!

Which three items in your wardrobe could you not live without?

My Burberry leather jackets, Acne Pistol boots and Paige black jeans.

You sat front row at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week wearing a dress by UCLan student Troy Cooper. Why are young designers important to you?

They’re important because they represent the future of fashion! I think GFW is a great place for young designers to showcase their talents and for fashion lovers to get excited about new things!

You did a collection with Very a few years ago. Is design something you’d like to do again?

I really did love designing. I always make little outfits up in my head and wish they existed so maybe I should go back in to designing and make my dream wardrobe.

Where are you favourite places to shop?

Liberty, ASOS, Topshop, Burberry, Mulberry and Acne.

Are you a heels or a flats girl?

I’m a bit of a practical girl so I like flats. But for a red carpet event, heels all the way!

What has been your favourite trend for the summer?

Double denim and really bold two pieces!

Which items would you never leave home without?

Laura Mercier concealer, Laura Mercier lippy and Chanel Chance perfume.

What are your handbag essentials?

Laura Mercier hand cream, Chanel bronzer, perfume, phone charger (lol) and a good lippy.

Where can we expect to see you next?

‘Give Out Girls’, a sitcom I filmed for Comedy Central, is out in October which is exciting and I’ve just recently filmed a psychological thriller called ‘Awaiting’, which is due for release next year.

Young, talented and seriously turned-out, this girl has a lot going on and I can’t wait to see more!
