This week I sat down at home with my good friend and industry insider, Victoria Gucci-Losio to talk fashion and what inspires her.
Will you tell us a little bit about what you do?
Well, I’ve been working in the fashion industry for over four years, primarily in editorial styling and fashion photography. I am now working as PR & Marketing manager for luxury jewellery brand, Faraone Mennella: organising press events, feature stories and campaign shoots.
When did you realise you wanted to work in fashion?
Having always idolised photographers like Patrick Demarchelier, Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh, Bob Richardson, Ellen von Unwerth, (and so many more) I realised I was going to work in fashion at a very early age. My mother gave me my first camera and it took off from there.
How did you make your start in the industry?
I began by doing courses in fashion photography and taking any opportunity to work with major brands, publications and talent in the industry. I wanted to learn from the best!
You were born in Rome and grew up between Los Angeles and London, did your international background influence your sense of style?
My sense of style probably comes from women I admire for their beauty and elegance: Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Grace Kelly…Elegance like that is timeless and essential.
What is your go-to look?
Day to day, I tend to go for classic and elegant with a unique twist, but a pencil skirt is my go-to item for when I need to look my best…
What can’t you leave home without during LFW?
During LFW…I probably can’t leave home without my iPhone! But a great handbag or clutch can MAKE an outfit! Handbags are my weakness.
Who would sit on your fantasy front row?
My fantasy front row would have to have Grace Coddington, without a doubt! Diana Vreeland, Carine Roitfeld, Franca Sozzani, Patricia Field, Edward Enninful, Giovanna Battaglia, and Derek Blasberg!
What was your favourite show this season and why?
Peter Pilotto was super fun to watch. They killed it for AW14 with the most unique and exciting pieces! I also loved David Koma’s colour palette, and his pony skin and leather pieces were really great.
Which designer are you most excited to wear for AW14?
I have to say I loved Burberry this season, I think Christopher Bailey rocked LFW. So unique and cool but totally wearable.
Stay tuned for the next Style Focus.
