If you’re following me on Twitter or Instagram, you probably know that I’ve spent the weekend at Vogue Festival, where I was fortunate to be a guest of Harrods Live!
There was a fantastic schedule of events and panel discussions with industry insiders, including designers and supermodels (Naomi Campbell and Karlie Kloss to name two!) among a larger lineup that read like a Who’s Who of Vogue International!
On Saturday morning, my brother and I attended The Power of Two in Fashion. The panel included Proenza Schouler power couple, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, and Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier, billed as the arbiters of London cool and the stylish twosome that recently took over the helm at Marc by Marc Jacobs – as Head Designer and Creative Director respectively.
‘We were 23; we were in the moment and had nothing to lose.’
– Lazaro explained how he and Jack founded Proenza Schouler.
Chaired by Vogue Editor, Alexandra Shulman, the talk was entertaining and inspiring in equal measure – Katie jokingly pleaded with Lazaro and Jack to stop sharing their enviable design process with Luella, in case she got any expensive ideas – a safari in Africa and weeks spent locked away in a log cabin were just some of the ways the pair conducted their ‘research’!
Following the talk, it was time to mingle with the other guests and attendees. There were makeup artists and hairstylists on hand to provide makeovers and a divine juice bar laid on by Harrods.
I counted Laura Bailey, Calgary Avansino and Susy Bubble amongst the fashionable crowd.
On Sunday, I was back for more.
Starting at 9 am, I was on the runway at Harrods Live, participating in their Street Style catwalk along with Mira Duma of Buro 24/7 and street style fame. After taking my turn, I slipped in to the audience for What’s it Really Like to be a Model.
The gorgeous panel included Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Jourdan Dunn, Edie Campbell and Karlie Kloss. As a model myself, it was great to hear these girls talk honestly about the industry, which is often, as tough as it is glamorous.
Next up, I attended Fashion, Beauty and the Digital Revolution, and finally, I couldn’t miss Fashion Legends with Naomi Campbell and Franca Sozzani.
Entertaining, informative and superbly executed, my chic weekend courtesy of British Vogue and Harrods came to an end and I was off home to get some beauty sleep!
